On Wednesday, we will be participating in TAT’s Kick Butt’s against tobacco program. Classroom Happenings for May 6th – May 10th, 2019
Note:  Friday is our Mother’s Day tea party! Students are encouraged to dress UP for this special occasion… Think Sunday best. We are so excited to have mothers, grandmothers, and aunts join us for some sweet memories. Please be at the school for 2:15.
If your child has a summer birthday, I am inviting them to celebrate in school anytime during the month of May. I just ask that you please contact me in advance and let me know what date you are thinking. I will let you know whether it works with our schedule or not. I don’t want to have more than one birthday celebration a day. May is also packed with other end of the year activities that may interfere with a birthday celebration.
Please make sure your child is reading out load to you each night. I will be checking reading logs daily. Students are given a one-minute timed fluency assessment every week (reading without pausing in between words). Students should be reading 50+ words per minute at this time in first grade. The end of year goal is 60+ words. The more your child practices oral reading, the easier it will be for him/her to meet this goal.

Monday (Day 10) Art – Write List 17 words 2x each.
Tuesday (Day 1) Keyboarding – Review List 17 spelling words. Review ALL sight words in green notebook. Read small phonics book “A Big Day for Mom” focusing on er/ir/ur words.
Wednesday (Day 2) Gym – Review List 17 spelling words. Review math facts in yellow envelope. DIBELS math assessment will be given next week.
Thursday (Day 3) Computers – Review List 17 spelling words. Review ALL sight words in green notebook. Read small phonics book “Sam Can Fly!” focusing on contractions.
Friday (Day 4) Music - No homework! Please check the Friday Folder for important papers and tests. Sign any stamped papers and return to school on Monday.

Have a great week! Happy Mother’s Day!
