Classroom Happenings for November 11th- 15th, 2019
Note: It was brought to my attention that music grades did not post to my student’s report cards. I spoke with the music teacher as well as the assistant principal to have the issue corrected. I had the report cards reprinted and will be sending them home in your child’s folder today. These are yours to keep. You do not need to return them to me.
We will begin our last reading story this week for Unit 1. The title is Animal Park and the reading focus skill is Cause and Effect, what happens and why. The phonics skills are short u and final consonant blends.
We will complete Unit 2 – Addition and Subtraction in math this week. Our test will be on Thursday.
This Friday, November 15th, will be a paid Spartan dress down day. Students may dress down with a $1.00 donation.

Monday  – No school. Happy Veteran’s Day to all of our Vets!
Tuesday (Day 6) Gym –Review List 6 spelling words in the blue spelling notebook.
Wednesday (Day 7) Computers –Review List 6 spelling words. Review ALL sight words in green notebook.
Thursday (Day 8) Music – Review List 6 spelling words. Review ALL sight words in green notebook. Read decodable book “Pug the Pup” 2x for fluency. The phonics skill is short u.
Friday (Day 1) Art – No homework! Please check the Friday Folder for important papers. Sign your child’s Friday Folder, and any stamped papers. Return to school on Monday.

Classroom Happenings for November 4th- 8th, 2019
Note: Report cards will be sent home this Friday. After viewing your child’s report card, please sign the manila envelope for the 1st marking period, then return only the envelope. The report card is yours to keep. As always, if you have any questions, please get in contact with me.
November reading logs will be sent home today. Please keep reading with your child every night. If your child completes one log, I will give him/her another. There is no limit to how many books he/she can read!

Monday (Day 1) Art – Write List 5 spelling words 2x each. There is a worksheet in your child’s take-home folder. Review all sight words in green notebook.
Tuesday (Day 2) Gym –Review List 5 spelling words. Review ALL sight words in green notebook. Read decodable book “Ted and Fran” two times for fluency. The phonics skill to focus on in the booklet is initial consonant blends. (fr, gr, fl, sp, st, tr, etc.)
Wednesday (Day 3) Library –Review List 5 spelling words. Final spelling test tomorrow. Review ALL sight words. Quiz tomorrow.  
Thursday (Day 4) Music – Read Get the Egg with an adult. Our reading skill, once again, is main idea and details – sum up what the story is mostly about in one sentence. Phonics (short e and initial consonant blends) and reading comprehension assessments tomorrow.
Friday (Day 5) Art – No homework! Please check the Friday Folder for important papers. Sign your child’s Friday Folder, report card envelope, and any stamped papers. Return to school on Monday.
